U
ntil i get some real news to post i wanted to share some photos that i thought best illustrated how inspiration can really strike from anywhere- we were eating at my favorite Indian resteraunt Gills which is located at the bottom of the Hotel Stilwell and in its lobby were a series of rugs- I don't know what it was about them because I'm sure I've seen tons of stuff that's similar to this but for some reason it was exactly the inspiration i needed to finish the watercolors i started for my NY show-

March 2009
This has been a very busy month! I was hoping I'd be able to do a sort of weekly journal of what I've been working on, which this month has been my upcoming show with Sloan Fine Arts- but I've been far to busy making 2 headed weasels! So instead here's a quick photo journal-

Heads!

Morgan rubs a horse Butt for good luck - and to get it smooth

air brushing the horse

almost done!

Finished! One life-sized cut-in-half pony!

Inside the horse is a lighthouse - we researched lighthouses for some inspiration. This one is
in San Pedro, CA.

the Black Rhino- cutting & sculpting the foam-

Morgan magic sculpting (now that's a dedicated husband!)

Rhino almost done- but the Beaver wants coffee!

I can sculpt a Rhino head, but i can't make a cookie!

The beginnings of a push me pull you creature-

Securing the sails for the Black Bunny

wingless Rabbits, ready for their wings

an angry armadillo

I took time out to do an art class for a program called "Room 13-" at Elliot middle School here's a taste of the very talented 6th graders work!

artists Jakhar & Josh with their awesome creations

meanwhile back at the drawing board, Morgan tattoos up the herd-

and i paint them, and then he inks them and then i spray lacquer them......

and then we all go for a walk in the park!

Valentine 2009
Thank you to everyone who ordered a knife or wanted to! They sold out within the first hour and even though we found more, those sold out too! I'm sorry if you had trouble placing an order, we didn't expect the high volume of sales and with a new site we had a few run ins with Paypal, but webmaster Damion was on it and saved the day! I also want to say thanks to Boing Boing whom I suspect was the reason for all the orders (thanks David!)

Sadly I was unable to order more knifes in time for Valentine's Day and they will not arrive for a few months yet. Due to so many requests I will be making the personalized hearts again as soon as they come in. Click here to join my mailing list if you'd like me to let you know when they are made! It's Feb 7th today and almost all the knifes shipped out this morning, the rest will go out early monday morning in time for Valentine's Day! I have to say those little guys kept me busy these last few days! Thanks again!

Highlights of 2008
City Beat featured me on their New Years Eve cover 2008/2009 and dubbed me Artist of the Year! I'm not sure what year they are talking about, I honestly don't think I deserve it! But I'm not going to argue with them!

I won the International Horror Guild Award for outstanding achievement in horror and dark fantasy art for "the incurable disorder "- its the only thing I've ever won and I love that my first trophy features a very cute gargoyle!

December Morgan debuted his photo series of bikini clad mascot headed girls "Rolling Vengeance" at BSFA which was super awesome! We have to give a nod to the lovely ladies of Hairroin and Helen, Roxy and Alison who all patiently posed!

In October I showed at the Scope Fair in London with Iguapop and also had a super fun solo show, "Tears of the Crocodile", at the Iguapop gallery in Barcelona. Morgan and I had the best time traveling all over Spain, we met all kinds of cool people, ate the best food ever, and even did a side trip to Morocco where I'm think I left my heart!

In May I did my first watercolor show, "The Secret Party", in the small room at BSFA. They also took me to Chicago for their group show at DVA gallery.
